Adios Portland!

Adios Portland!

Moving day is here and it started out in almost the most Portland way you could imagine. Since we had a 7 am flight and the airline recommended being there three hours early for the international flight we decided to stay at a hotel near the airport. Unfortunately we selected a hotel that was also right next door to the hotel that was housing ICE agents. At about 1:30 in the morning we were awoken by chanting outside. Protesters had come to, presumably, wake up ICE with chanting and give them a bad day. We were unfortunately caught in the chaos and it made our 3:00 wake time even more rough than it would have been.

We’re going to miss Portland a lot. We were welcomed with open arms when we came to the city three and a half years ago and we enjoyed the plentiful coffee shops within walking distance, the preponderance of murals and artwork throughout the city, the general vibe of the city and people that live there, and so much more. I could go on and on, but I won’t. If you haven’t visited Portland, you should plan a trip, summers are especially beautiful.

We are mid-flight for the first of three flights today to get us to Porto (PDX -> JFK, JFK -> CDG, CDG ->OPO). We have a long day ahead of us but I’m excited for the adventure.
